How OT Sessions Work
STEP 1
Start with an initial consultation and goal setting
The first step is understanding what is happening day to day and what matters most to you. Together, clear goals are set so support stays practical and relevant.
STEP 2
Understand what is getting in the way
Assessment helps us understand what may be making everyday activities, routines, relationships, work, learning, or participation more challenging. This may include observation, conversation, functional assessment, and discussion of the environments and routines that are important to you.
Balance and Bloom OT uses a combination of standardised and non-standardised assessments where appropriate, selected to suit the person, their goals, age, and individual needs. Assessment may explore areas such as sensory processing, emotional regulation, mobility/motor skills, cognition, psychosocial, daily living skills, participation, and overall functional capacity.
STEP 3
Build practical strategies that fit real life
Support focuses on practical strategies, skill development, routines, and environmental adjustments that make everyday life more manageable and meaningful. Recommendations are tailored to the person, their goals, strengths, environment, and the activities that matter to them.
Strategies may support participation at home, in education, employment, the community, or other meaningful settings, and can be adapted over time as circumstances, goals, and needs change.
A Calm Clinic Space Designed for Comfort, Connection and Participation
The clinic space is designed to feel calm, welcoming, and supportive for people of all ages. Individual sensory needs, communication styles, comfort, and accessibility are considered to help each person feel safe, understood, and able to engage at their own pace.
Balance and Bloom OT provides a respectful, strengths-based and neuroaffirming approach that prioritises connection, autonomy, and meaningful participation. Whether building skills, exploring strategies, increasing independence, or navigating change, support is tailored to the individual and what matters most to them.
